NHL Veteran Tomas Tatar Signs Two-Year Deal with Swiss Club EV Zug
Veteran NHL forward Tomas Tatar has signed a two-year contract with EV Zug of Switzerland's National League, potentially marking the end of his 14-season NHL career. Tatar, who played 927 NHL games across six teams including the New Jersey Devils, Detroit Red Wings, and Montreal Canadiens, scored 227 goals and totaled 496 points. Throughout his career, he was primarily a winger but will transition to playing center with EV Zug. His best NHL season was with the Canadiens in 2019-20, where he scored 61 points, and he also had a career-high 29 goals with Detroit in 2014-15. In his final NHL season with the Devils, he played a bottom-six role, contributing 17 points in 74 games. EV Zug’s general manager highlighted Tatar's experience and game intelligence as key assets for their center line, while Devils' GM Tom Fitzgerald had hoped Tatar would replicate his earlier success before he opted to move overseas.
