The Tennessee Department of Transportation has opened a new ramp from Nashville International Airport's Terminal Drive onto I-40 East as part of a $135.9 million overhaul of the I-40 interchange at Donelson Pike. This project, ongoing since 2022, includes a collector-distributor road alongside I-40 to streamline traffic and a diverging-diamond interchange to ease congestion near the airport, which has faced significant traffic delays due to rising passenger numbers and ride-hailing demand. The roadwork is a joint effort between TDOT and the Metro Nashville Airport Authority, with final construction phases expected to complete in November, followed by additional airport roadway renovations worth $1.17 billion. Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time and exercise caution in work zones. Other unrelated highway projects include ramp closures in Montgomery County, Ohio, and the opening of remaining ramps in Duluth's Twin Ports Interchange reconstruction, but these are distinct from the Nashville airport improvements.
