Nancy Sununu, former first lady of New Hampshire and matriarch of a prominent political family, died at the age of 85 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Wife of John H. Sununu and mother of current Governor Chris Sununu and former U.S. Senator John E. Sununu, Nancy was instrumental in both her husband's career and her own public service. She chaired the New Hampshire Republican State Party in 1980, contributing to Ronald Reagan's presidential victory, and held roles with the Republican Governors Association and the Republican Women's Federal Forum. Nancy also dedicated herself to education and philanthropy, including renovating the historic governor’s mansion and serving on the board of Rivier University.
