BBC Adapts Adam Kay’s Dexter Procter for Two-Part TV Special

The BBC is adapting Adam Kay's 2024 children's novel Dexter Procter: The 10-Year-Old Doctor into two 50-minute comedy specials set to air later this year on BBC One and CBBC. The series follows Dexter Procter, a 10-year-old paediatrician played by newcomer Cian Eagle-Service, who solves bizarre medical mysteries while navigating workplace challenges and childhood. The adaptation features a star-studded cast including Peter Serafinowicz as Dexter's jealous colleague Dr Drake, Jameela Jamil, Mike Wozniak, Konnie Huq, Harry Enfield, and Sue Johnston. Filmed in the Wirral, the show is described as family-friendly entertainment designed to bring parents and children together, blending humor and heart. Adam Kay, who also executive produces, highlights the semi-autobiographical nature of the story and praises the cast as a blend of established and emerging comedy talents. The production is directed by Matt Lipsey and produced by Terrible Productions and Various Artists Ltd.
