Recording Academy Adds 3,600 Diverse Members Including Addison Rae
The Recording Academy announced its 2025 class of nearly 3,600 new members, including TikToker-turned-pop star Addison Rae, K-pop group KATSEYE, rapper Joey Bada$$, comedian Nikki Glaser, and Mexican band Grupo Firme. Membership grants voting rights for the Grammy Awards and access to career development opportunities, with the class reflecting the Academy's commitment to diversity—49% identify as women, 56% as people of color, and 60% are under 40. Addison Rae, whose debut album peaked at number 4 on the Billboard 200, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to join a community that inspires creativity. HYBE Labels artists such as Huh Yunjin, Yeonjun, and Jungwon were also invited, highlighting HYBE's growing influence in the American music market. Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. emphasized the organization’s focus on fostering inclusion and providing pathways for members to shape the future of music. The new members must accept their invitation to become full voting members eligible for the 2026 Grammys.
