James Van Der Beek Joins Legally Blonde Prequel

James Van Der Beek has joined the cast of the upcoming Prime Video series 'Elle,' a Legally Blonde prequel, portraying Dean Wilson, the new mayoral candidate and current school district superintendent. The series, created by Laura Kittrell and produced by Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine, features Lexi Minetree as a young Elle Woods during her high school years. The ensemble includes June Diane Raphael, Tom Everett Scott, Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker, and newly announced recurring actors Lisa Yamada, Chloe Wepper, David Burtka, and Brad Harder. Jason Moore will direct the first two episodes. The show was greenlit in May 2024, and a release date has yet to be announced. The series aims to explore Elle Woods' formative experiences prior to Harvard Law.
