A 36-year-old man from Tampa was killed in a head-on collision with a semi-truck on US 98 North at Earnest Road in Polk County early Saturday morning. The incident, which occurred around 3:16 a.m., happened when the driver of a 2020 Chevy Silverado attempted to pass another vehicle, veering into the northbound lane and colliding with the oncoming truck. The driver of the semi-truck and his passenger were uninjured, while the Tampa man died instantly. All involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
