E. Coli Outbreak Expands Food Recalls
Grimmway Farms has issued a voluntary recall of various brands of organic whole and baby carrots due to potential E. coli contamination, affecting multiple states and leading to 39 reported illnesses and one death. The recall impacts products sold under brands like Trader Joe's, Wegmans, and Nature’s Promise, with potential symptoms including stomach cramps, bloody diarrhea, and fever. This outbreak has also led to recalls of other products using these carrots, including Fabalish Kickin’ Carrot Falafel Bites sold in 18 states. F&S Fresh Foods also recalled carrot sticks and celery sold at Whole Foods Market in five states due to similar contamination concerns. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are investigating the outbreak, urging consumers to discard affected products. Grimmway Farms has stated they are reviewing their processes to ensure safety and quality.
