New Haven Police Search Suspect After Saturday Morning Trail Sexual Assault

A person was sexually assaulted while jogging on a trail south of Fort Hale Dog Park in New Haven between 7:30 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. on Saturday morning. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his late 30s to early 40s, about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7 tall, with a medium build, dark brown/black cropped hair, a short beard, and a possible rash around his mouth. He was wearing a blue patterned polo shirt, gray work pants, and brown dress shoes, and was carrying a silver box cutter with a silver blade. The suspect spoke broken English and was last seen walking northbound on the trail back toward the park. Police are urging anyone with information or video footage from the area of Woodward and Townsend avenues between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. to come forward, with options to contact them anonymously. Authorities emphasize the importance of public assistance in identifying and locating the suspect to ensure community safety.
