Man Charged in Fatal Dog Attack in Sunderland

Christopher Bell, 45, has been charged in connection with the fatal dog attack that resulted in the death of 54-year-old Ian Langley in Sunderland last year. Langley was attacked by an XL Bully dog outside a residence on Maple Terrace in Shiney Row and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Bell faces charges of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control, causing injury resulting in death, and is scheduled to appear in South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on October 18. The dog involved in the incident was destroyed at the scene to ensure public safety. Friends described Langley as a kind man who was simply walking his puppy at the time of the attack.
