Disney+ Secures Landmark Content Deal with Spain’s Atresmedia

Disney+ has entered a landmark partnership with Spain's leading broadcaster Atresmedia, marking the first major alliance in Spain between a commercial broadcaster and a global streaming service. Starting in September 2025, Disney+ subscribers in Spain will gain access to a dedicated Atresplayer branded space featuring over 300 hours of Spanish-produced content annually, including popular shows like La Voz, Tu Cara Me Suena, Mar Afuera, and classic series such as Vis a Vis and Física o Química. The deal grants Disney+ co-exclusive rights to a broad range of Atresmedia productions, with many shows available day-and-date alongside their original broadcast on Atresmedia's free-to-air channels. This agreement follows similar partnerships Disney+ has forged with broadcasters in the UK (ITVX) and Germany (ZDF Studios), reflecting Disney's broader commitment to supporting local European content. Atresmedia CEO Javier Bardají emphasized that the deal consolidates Atresmedia's leadership and extends the international reach of Spanish talent and culture. Karl Holmes, Disney+ EMEA general manager, highlighted the importance of adding high-quality local content to the platform, enhancing the viewing experience for Spanish audiences.
