Palo Alto police have arrested 34-year-old Alvaro Javier Lopez in connection with the homicide of 65-year-old James Allen Rudolph, whose body was discovered in a parking garage on Bryant Street on July 25. An autopsy revealed that Rudolph died from blunt force trauma to the head, prompting a thorough investigation by detectives. Lopez, also unhoused, was apprehended on August 1 in a different parking garage downtown, where he was taken into custody without incident. The police have not disclosed a possible motive or if there are additional suspects involved in the case. Lopez has been booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail and is scheduled for multiple court appearances in August as the investigation continues. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.
