Saints Sign Ben DiNucci After Carr Injury

The New Orleans Saints have signed quarterback Ben DiNucci as a response to injuries sustained by starter Derek Carr, who is currently in concussion protocol and dealing with a left hand injury. While the team has not confirmed DiNucci's status on the active roster or practice squad, he will provide additional depth behind current backups Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler. Interim coach Darren Rizzi has stated that Carr's injuries do not require surgery, and the team may not place him on injured reserve, hoping for a return before the end of the season. Carr was injured trying to leap for a first down during a recent game, completing 20 of 31 passes for 219 yards prior to his exit. DiNucci, drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2020, has limited NFL experience but has played for several teams, including time in the XFL.
