A 14-year-old Heritage High School student in Vancouver, Washington, narrowly escaped a possible kidnapping attempt while walking to school on Monday morning. The incident occurred near Northeast 76th Street and NE 122nd Avenue between 8:10 and 8:20 a.m. when a masked man emerged from bushes, grabbed her, and attempted to cover her face with fabric. The girl managed to break free and ran several blocks to school, appearing uninjured. The suspect is described as a slender male, about 5'9" tall, with light brown skin, black hair, brown eyes, and wearing a black hoodie, black cargo pants, and a black COVID-style mask. Authorities are actively investigating and have urged anyone with information to contact Detective Lawrence Zapata.
