Stan Love, Former NBA Player, Dies at 76
Kevin Love, Miami Heat power forward, announced the death of his father, former NBA and ABA player Stan Love, at age 76 after a prolonged illness. Stan Love, a first-round pick in the 1971 NBA Draft, played four seasons for the Baltimore Bullets, Los Angeles Lakers, and San Antonio Spurs, and was inducted into the University of Oregon Athletics Hall of Fame. He was also the brother of Beach Boys singer Mike Love. Kevin shared that his father's final wish was to pass away at home surrounded by family, which was fulfilled. Kevin has been absent from the Heat during their playoff run, missing at least Game 4 against Cleveland due to his father's passing. The NBA community, including players like Isaiah Thomas and CJ McCollum, has expressed support and condolences, while Kevin's tribute emphasized the lessons of forgiveness and the importance of family.
