Suspect Charged After Running Over Lauderhill Officer, Pedestrian in Sunrise

A Lauderhill police officer is hospitalized with severe injuries after being intentionally struck by Terence Eugene Powell Jr., 27, while stopped at a red light in Sunrise. The incident occurred when Powell first rear-ended the officer's cruiser, then struck him and a bystander who attempted to assist, sending them both into the air. Dashcam footage captured Powell's actions, which included reversing and attempting to hit the victims again before fleeing the scene. The officer, who has not been named, is facing a lengthy recovery due to multiple injuries, while the witness is in stable condition. Powell has been arrested and is charged with attempted premeditated murder and aggravated battery, and he is scheduled for another court appearance soon.
