Dozens Palestinian Children Arrive Atlanta Medical Evacuation Gaza
Twelve-year-old Yassin Alghalban, who lost both legs and a finger in a Gaza airstrike, arrived in Atlanta alongside his mother and siblings as part of the largest medical evacuation from Gaza to date. Orchestrated by the nonprofit HEAL Palestine, Yassin is among eleven children recently brought to the U.S. for urgent humanitarian treatment due to the collapse of Gaza’s health sector. He suffers from severe malnutrition and trauma, having lost his father and brother in separate attacks, and his family endured multiple displacements and delays before reaching safety. Yassin will be evaluated for surgery and receive prosthetic limbs, with all medical expenses covered, while his siblings will also seek pediatric care and enrollment in school after two years of educational disruption. The Atlanta community and local volunteers have welcomed the family, offering temporary housing and support for their recovery and integration. Despite the overwhelming need, advocates stress the importance of providing life-changing care to children from conflict zones.
