Three-Year-Old Dies After Mini Tornado Lifts Trampoline in England
A tragic incident in Longney, Gloucestershire, saw three-year-old Felicity Keepin die after a mini-tornado lifted the trampoline she was playing on and threw her a considerable distance into a nearby field. Despite the trampoline being equipped with a safety net, it had not been anchored down, a factor coroner Roland Wooderson highlighted while noting that anchoring may not have prevented the accident. The freak gust of wind, described by neighbor Adam Nash as a 'mini tornado' about seven to eight feet wide, caused the trampoline to fly over a hedge, leading to Felicity being airlifted to Bristol Children's Hospital, where she passed away a week later. Coroner Wooderson called the event "every parent's worst nightmare" and urged the public to be aware of the dangers associated with trampolines, emphasizing the importance of following manufacturers' safety instructions. Felicity was under the careful supervision of her mother at the time, and the coroner ruled the death accidental but extraordinary and unforeseen. The family, including Felicity's brother and parents, mourned her deeply, with her funeral marked by a request for attendees to wear something pink in her memory.
