No. 16 Louisville at Virginia Tech
No. 16 Louisville (6-1, 3-1 ACC) will travel to Lane Stadium to face Virginia Tech (3-5, 2-2) on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. ET in the teams' 10th meeting and Louisville's first trip to Blacksburg since 1991. Louisville will be without running back Duke Watson (out for a third straight game) and lists WR Chris Bell as probable, while Virginia Tech has 14 players out, including starting safety Quentin Reddish and right guard Montavious Cunningham. Louisville's ground game is surging — Isaac Brown rushed for 205 yards on 14 carries last week — and the Cardinals' defense is ranked second in the ACC and 14th nationally by yards allowed. Virginia Tech will rely on electric dual-threat QB Kyron Drones (59.7% completion, 1,516 yards, 14 TDs, 6 INTs), who has played better since the dismissal of defensive coordinator Brent Pry, but the Hokies remain inconsistent and injury-depleted. The matchup will test Louisville's physical rushing attack and opportunistic defense against Virginia Tech's playmakers in what should be a loud Lane Stadium atmosphere.
