Suspect Arrested in Hibbing Apartment Homicide

A man was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Meadowview Apartments in Hibbing early Sunday after police responded to reports of shots fired about 2:15 a.m.; despite life‑saving efforts he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities identified the victim as 24‑year‑old Parker Charles Johnson, who had turned 24 the day before. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and local agencies assisted Hibbing police in what officials have described as an isolated incident with no known ongoing threat to the public. A suspect was taken into custody around 12:30 p.m., and investigators said reports would be sent to the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office as the probe continues. The shooting occurred at the same complex where the city's last confirmed homicide took place in June 2022.
