Cyprus, Greece, Egypt Strengthen Cooperation at Summit

Leaders from Cyprus, Egypt, and Greece have reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace, stability, and economic cooperation during their tenth trilateral summit in Cairo. They emphasized the importance of their strategic partnership in addressing regional challenges, including ongoing conflicts in Gaza, Syria, Libya, and Yemen, and highlighted their support for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination. Discussions included energy collaboration, notably the EuroAfrica Interconnector and GREGY projects, which aim to enhance electricity connectivity between Africa and Europe. Concurrently, Cyprus leaders are set to discuss opening new crossing points on the island, which has been divided between Greek and Turkish Cypriots since 1974, to alleviate traffic congestion and foster confidence-building.
