Three Hospitalised After Rickshaw Collides With Bus in West End

Three people were hospitalized following a collision between a rickshaw and a bus in London's West End at the junction of Charing Cross Road and Phoenix Street shortly after 1 a.m. emergency services, including ambulance crews, an advanced paramedic, and a trauma team from London's Air Ambulance, responded promptly to the scene. One individual was taken to a major trauma center while the other two were treated at local hospitals. The bus involved was operating on the N19 route to Clapham Junction and sustained front-end damage, while the rickshaw, decorated with neon lights and pink feathers typical of tourist vehicles in the area, was left overturned. The incident caused the closure of Charing Cross Road and bus diversions were implemented. Concerns about the safety of rickshaws have been noted previously, with Transport for London launching consultations on related dangers and issues such as anti-social behavior and illegal trading by pedicab operators.
