Jacqueline Wilson announces adult sequel Picture Imperfect for August 28
Dame Jacqueline Wilson has announced the release of her new adult novel, Picture Imperfect, a sequel to her beloved 1999 children's book, The Illustrated Mum, set to be published on August 28, 2025. The novel follows 33-year-old Dolphin, who is navigating life in a studio flat, working at a tattoo shop, and dealing with her mother's bipolar disorder while considering her romantic options. The story will also feature her sister Star, now a doctor in Scotland, who offers Dolphin a chance for a new life. To celebrate the announcement, Wilson unveiled a tattooed statue of herself in Brighton, which will tour the UK. This marks her second adult book in recent years, following Think Again, and showcases her continued engagement with characters that have resonated with readers for decades. Wilson expressed excitement about revisiting these characters and hopes her long-time fans will appreciate the new developments in their lives.
