Achraf Hakimi, the Moroccan defender for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), has been named the best African player in Ligue 1 for 2025, winning the prestigious Marc-Vivien Foé Award. Hakimi's exceptional performances during PSG’s record-extending 13th Ligue 1 title and their run to the Champions League final distinguished him from competitors like Evann Guessand and Habib Diarra. He is only the second defender to receive this honor and the fourth Moroccan to do so, joining a distinguished group of African footballers recognized for their impact in France’s top league. Hakimi's improved defensive skills and leadership, noted by PSG manager Luis Enrique and Morocco’s national coach Walid Regragui, have been pivotal to both club and country.
