Ukraine experienced a widespread failure of electronic payment systems, impacting card payments at stores, metro stations, post offices, and restaurants, as well as mobile payment options like Apple Pay and Google Pay. The disruptions extended to major banking apps, including Monobank and Raiffeisen Bank, and affected the Diia state service application. Officials and experts confirmed the cause was a technical failure, particularly a problem at Oschadbank, and emphasized that it was not related to a cyberattack. Kyiv authorities advised using alternatives such as transport cards or QR tickets for metro travel, while businesses temporarily operated on a cash-only basis. Restoration efforts began promptly, with services expected to return to normal soon.
