Sideshow and Janus Films Acquire Vermiglio Rights

Sideshow and Janus Films have acquired North American rights to Maura Delpero's Italian drama 'Vermiglio', which won the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival. The film, set in 1944 in a remote Alpine village, explores the impact of a refugee soldier's arrival on a local teacher's family, particularly focusing on the love story between the soldier and the teacher's eldest daughter. It recently premiered in the Special Presentations section at the Toronto International Film Festival and is slated for a theatrical release in North America soon. Critics have praised it as a new Italian classic, highlighting its intimate storytelling and stunning cinematography. Delpero describes 'Vermiglio' as her most personal work, stemming from her grief for her father's death. The film represents her follow-up to the acclaimed 'Maternal', and is co-produced by several international partners including RAI Cinema and Charades Productions.
