Wildfires Trigger Evacuations, Air Alerts Across Colorado, California, British Columbia
The Daves Creek Wildfire near Joe Rich, east of Kelowna, has been contained with all evacuation alerts rescinded, though some residual smoke and tree removal operations continue with traffic disruptions on Goudie Road. Firefighters, including local departments and BC Wildfire Service crews, responded quickly to the fire, which burned about 2.53 hectares. Meanwhile, in Washington, Level 2 evacuations are in effect north of Lake Wenatchee due to a wildfire spreading from a structure fire to surrounding brush and trees. Colorado faces critical fire weather conditions with high heat, gusty winds, low humidity, and multiple active wildfires causing poor air quality, especially in western Colorado and the Denver metro area. Evacuations are mandatory in parts of Archuleta County, Colorado, including Aspen Springs and Elk Park subdivision, due to the out-of-control Oak Fire, with shelters and livestock facilities established to support displaced residents. Authorities continue to monitor these wildfire situations closely and urge residents to follow safety and evacuation protocols.
