Truck Driver Recovered After Bridge Crash in Delaware

Zair Murzakov, a 35-year-old truck driver from Brooklyn, New York, died after his bobtail tractor-trailer cab crashed through a concrete barrier on the southbound side of the Delaware Memorial Bridge and plunged into the Delaware River early Friday morning. The vehicle crossed multiple lanes of traffic before going over the edge, and no other vehicles were involved. The accident was caught live on a traffic camera, which helped prompt an immediate response. Recovery operations were hampered by difficult water and tide conditions, leading to a suspension and resumption of efforts before Murzakov's body and the vehicle were recovered Saturday morning using cranes and barges from a nearby construction project. Officials say the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation but noted that bobtail tractors are more difficult to handle. Multiple emergency and dive teams assisted in the search and recovery.
