Final Pueblo Police Officer Released After March 18 Shooting
The last of three Pueblo police officers injured in a March 18 shooting has been discharged from the hospital, marking a significant milestone for the department. An honor escort and welcome-home procession will take place at 11:30 a.m. on April 12, with Main Street closed to accommodate the event. The officers were ambushed by suspect Billy Soto, who fired over 80 rounds, resulting in critical injuries to all three officers before he was killed by return fire. The first officer was released just two days after the incident, with the second officer discharged shortly thereafter. The shooting continues to be under investigation by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Community members are encouraged to participate in the procession to honor the officers' recovery.
