UCF staged a dramatic comeback to defeat TCU 35-34 in their Big 12 opener, overcoming a three-TD deficit after halftime. KJ Jefferson threw a game-winning 20-yard touchdown pass to Kobe Hudson with just 36 seconds remaining, marking UCF's first lead of the game. The Knights scored on four of their five second-half possessions, bolstered by RJ Harvey's strong performance, who rushed for 180 yards and two touchdowns. Despite leading 28-7 at one point, TCU's defense faltered, allowing UCF to rally back. TCU's Josh Hoover had a strong showing with 402 passing yards and four touchdowns, but a last-minute drive ended in a failed field goal attempt. UCF's kicker Colton Boomer successfully converted the extra point after the final touchdown, securing the victory.
