Avinash Sable 3000m steeplechase

Avinash Mukund Sable has made history by becoming the first Indian to qualify for the men's 3000m steeplechase final at the Paris Olympics, finishing fifth in his heat with a time of 8:15.43. Sable's performance was commendable, as he led for much of the race before pacing himself to ensure qualification, despite the timing being below his personal best of 7:09.91. In the same event, Morocco's Mohamed Tindouft won the heat, clocking 8:10.62, with Sable among the top five who advanced. Meanwhile, Kiran Pahal could not secure an automatic semifinal spot in the women's 400m, finishing seventh and will have to compete in the repechage round. The finals for the steeplechase are scheduled for August 8, 2024, where Sable hopes to replicate the success of fellow Indian Neeraj Chopra from the Tokyo Olympics.
