Michael Shanks, who gained acclaim for his debut body horror film Together, is set to write and direct a sci-fi thriller titled Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel, which has been acquired by A24 after a competitive bidding process. The film centers on a man trapped in a mysterious hotel room, where his only chance of escape is to collaborate with himself in a mind-bending prison scenario. Shanks' screenplay, recognized on the 2021 Black List for its originality, is being produced alongside Mike Cowap of Princess Pictures and Adam McKay and Todd Schulman of HyperObject Industries. Together, which premiered at Sundance and was picked up by Neon, grossed $32 million worldwide, marking a significant success for an indie horror film. A24 is moving quickly to begin casting and production, signaling confidence in Shanks as a rising talent in the film industry.
