Smithsonian Zoo Debuts Giant Pandas Bao Li, Qing Bao

The Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington, D.C. will officially debut its new giant pandas, Bao Li and Qing Bao, to the public on January 24, 2025. Ahead of their public appearance, the zoo hosted a media preview event on January 9, showcasing the pandas as they ate bamboo. A celebratory event called the 'District of Panda Party' will follow their debut, running from January 25 to February 9, featuring special programs and a Lunar New Year celebration. The zoo's director emphasized the importance of giant pandas to the community and the zoo's conservation efforts. Additionally, the Giant Panda Cam will relaunch, allowing fans to watch the pandas live from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET once they are on public display.
