Widespread Overnight Road Closures Planned Across UK for Maintenance

Several significant overnight road closures and maintenance works are scheduled across the UK in June 2025, impacting key routes and causing potential disruptions for motorists. Abbey Road in Ferrybank, located on the Kilkenny Waterford border, will close from 8pm to 6am until June 14 for resurfacing, with local access maintained despite expected disruption. The Wyre Piddle Bypass on the A44 between Evesham and Worcester will be closed on June 17 and 18 overnight for patching and resurfacing, with a 16-mile diversion in place. The Dartford Crossing, a major Thames river link, will experience multiple overnight closures affecting both East and West tunnels from June 9 to 16, with contraflow and diversion routes recommended due to anticipated congestion. In Shropshire, the A5 will have eastbound closures from June 11 to 16 and westbound closures from June 17 to 23 for resurfacing, including related closures on the A49. Additionally, the A51 in Rugeley, Staffordshire, will close nightly from June 9 to 20 as part of extensive redevelopment works on a former power station site, which includes installing new infrastructure and preparing for a new all-through school opening in 2025 and 2026.
