Oklahoma Softball Sweeps Alabama Advances Women’s College World Series

The No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners swept No. 15 Alabama in the Norman Super Regional to advance to the Women's College World Series for the eighth consecutive year, marking their 18th overall appearance. Oklahoma secured the series with a 3-0 win in Game 1, powered by Kasidi Pickering’s two-run home run and a complete game from ace pitcher Sam Landry, who struck out five and allowed just four hits. In Game 2, the Sooners dominated with a 13-2 mercy-rule victory, highlighted by a third-inning explosion where they scored eight runs on eight hits, including home runs from Gabbie Garcia, Ella Parker, and Nelly McEnroe-Marinas. Pitcher Kierston Deal held Alabama to two solo home runs and three hits over four innings, while Audrey Lowry closed the game scoreless. Despite Alabama's efforts, including solo home runs by Kali Heivilin and Marlie Giles, Oklahoma’s offensive and pitching performances ensured a commanding series sweep. Both teams demonstrated strong competition, but Oklahoma’s depth and timely hitting proved decisive in their return to the WCWS.
