Bezos Plans AI Data Centers Orbital Deployment, Blue Origin Advances Space Habitats

Jeff Bezos envisions a future where millions of people live in space within the next couple of decades, driven by the need to preserve Earth by tapping into space's unlimited resources and energy. At Italian Tech Week 2025, he proposed building giant gigawatt AI data centers in space powered by continuous solar energy, reducing the environmental strain caused by terrestrial data centers. Bezos's space vision includes Orbital Reef, a privately owned space station developed with Sierra Space and Boeing, designed as a mixed-use business park capable of hosting up to 10 people and potentially replacing the International Space Station by 2030. This project aims to mix science, commerce, and tourism, laying the foundation for everyday human life in space. His broader mission is to facilitate human expansion into the solar system, relocating heavy industry off Earth to protect the planet for future generations.
