Jones County Woman Arrested for Arson After House Fire Destroys Property, Man Missing
Two separate arson incidents involving women setting homes on fire have been reported in different locations. In Waynesboro, Monica Smith, 40, faces charges including threatening to set fire to a building and malicious burning after intentionally igniting her residence, but she was not immediately detained due to medical treatment. In Jones County, Georgia, Amanda Drye was arrested and charged with first-degree arson for setting her home on Largo Drive ablaze after admitting to spreading accelerant and intentionally starting the fire. The Jones County fire destroyed the home, damaged three cars, and a shed, but no injuries were reported. Drye was found trying to leave the scene and is being held without bond, while her estranged husband, William Jay Drye, has been missing since before the fire; authorities state his disappearance is unrelated to the incident. Firefighters and sheriff's deputies responded quickly to both fires, and investigations are ongoing to determine further details.
