Apple is set to introduce its Apple Intelligence suite of AI features in the upcoming software updates for iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1. While these features will be available for U.S. English users, they will be blocked in the EU for iPhones and iPads due to compliance issues with the EU's Digital Markets Act, but may still be available for Mac users. The AI suite includes advanced capabilities like AI-powered writing tools, email summaries, and transcription features. Apple's focus is on preventing 'hallucinations' and ensuring user-friendly, accurate outputs, as revealed by the detailed prompts found in the beta versions. Interestingly, Apple used Google's Tensor Processing Units to train its foundational language models for these AI features. Despite the current limitations, Apple plans ongoing updates throughout 2024 and aims to fully revamp Siri and introduce additional features in 2025.
