Sheikh Zayed Road Expands Capacity by 25%, Reduces Travel Time

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has completed significant enhancements on Sheikh Zayed Road, increasing its capacity by 25% to accommodate 3,200 vehicles per hour. The expansion involved adding a fourth lane in the Abu Dhabi-bound direction near the Financial Centre Metro Station, which has drastically reduced journey times from five minutes to two. These improvements aim to optimize traffic flow, reduce congestion, and maintain high safety standards while supporting the emirate's urban growth. The upgrades are part of RTA's ongoing efforts to implement innovative traffic solutions across Dubai's key arterial roadways, which serve vital economic and commercial areas. Director of Traffic at RTA, Ahmed Al Khzaimy, emphasized the commitment to providing seamless travel experiences for all motorists. Additional optimizations included improving the traffic merging distance between Al Khail Road and Financial Centre Street, further enhancing traffic efficiency.
