UK's First Trans MP Pleads Guilty Harassing Ex-Wife

Katie Wallis, Britain's first transgender MP, has pleaded guilty to harassing her ex-wife, Rebecca Wallis, by sending unwanted messages, phone calls, and voice notes between February and March 2025. The harassment began after Rebecca informed Katie of a new relationship, and despite being arrested and released on bail, Katie continued the behavior. Wallis, who legally remains Jamie but prefers to be known as Katie, served as the Conservative MP for Bridgend from 2019 to 2024 and is recognized as the first MP in British history to begin transitioning while in office. The couple had been together for over 15 years, share two children, and divorced in 2024. The court accepted Katie Wallis's guilty plea, removing allegations related to driving past Rebecca's home, and sentencing is scheduled for July 14, with a psychiatric assessment planned to examine the impact of Wallis's gender transition on her mental health during the offenses. Defense counsel highlighted that Wallis was undergoing a crucial stage of her gender transition with limited support and acknowledged the toll the case had taken on all involved.
