Julian Spear, Music Legend, Dies at 60

Julian Spear, the husband of Coronation Street actress Carol Royle, tragically died after diving into a freezing outdoor pool at his local David Lloyd leisure center. The 74-year-old, a prominent figure in the music industry known for his work with the Boomtown Rats and The Stranglers, mistakenly believed the pool was heated. After his swim, Spear felt unwell and collapsed at home, later succumbing to a massive brain hemorrhage caused by the cold water. Carol described him as an incredibly fit and healthy man who was passionate about music and active in his daily life.
