Rays Place Yandy Diaz on Restricted List over Passport Issue

The Tampa Bay Rays placed designated hitter Yandy Diaz on the restricted list due to a passport renewal issue, rendering him unavailable for their series in Toronto. Manager Kevin Cash expressed disappointment over Diaz's absence, as the veteran hitter is a key part of the team's offense despite a modest start this season. To fill Diaz's spot, the Rays recalled infielder Coco Montes from Triple-A Durham and planned to rotate other players like Brandon Lowe and Christopher Morel through the DH position during the series. Diaz, who is batting .238 with six home runs and 20 RBIs in 40 games this season, is expected to return when the Rays visit Miami later in the week. Additionally, right fielder Josh Lowe, sidelined since Opening Day with an oblique injury, is nearing a return after progressing through minor league rehab.
