RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's security has been elevated from Z-plus, previously provided by the CISF, to the Advanced Security Liaison (ASL) protocol, on par with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, due to heightened threat perceptions and vulnerabilities, especially in non-BJP governed states. The ASL protocol includes meticulous site assessments, coordination with local police, anti-sabotage checks, and multi-layered security rings, ensuring comprehensive protection. Bhagwat, who has been targeted by several organizations including radical Islamist outfits, will now have enhanced measures involving advance planning and threat analysis for all his movements. The decision, finalized by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) two weeks ago, mandates the involvement of local agencies in ensuring his safety. This upgrade follows reviews that found gaps in his previous Z-plus security arrangements.
