Alaska Man Sentenced 135 Years for 2022 Child Kidnapping, Assault

David Anderson, a 52-year-old man from Wasilla, Alaska, was sentenced to an additional 50 years in federal prison for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl, on top of an 85-year state sentence he is already serving. The crime occurred on November 2, 2022, when Anderson coerced the girl into his vehicle, threatened her with a revolver, and later took her to a remote wooded area where he sexually assaulted her and then shot at her before leaving her for dead. Remarkably, the victim survived by chewing through her duct tape restraints and seeking help, which led to Anderson's arrest the next day. Prosecutors highlighted the victim's extraordinary bravery in escaping and providing testimony that ensured Anderson would remain imprisoned for life and unable to harm others. Anderson had also attempted to conceal his crime by disassembling and discarding the revolver into a nearby river. This combined sentencing reflects the severity of the crime and the justice system's commitment to holding him accountable.
