Packers Legend Tom Brown Dies at 84
Tom Brown, a two-sport athlete celebrated for his game-saving interception in the 1966 NFL title game for the Green Bay Packers, has died at age 84. Brown was drafted by the Packers in 1963 and also played one MLB season with the Washington Senators, hitting one home run in 61 games. He started for the Packers during their three consecutive NFL championships from 1965-67 and contributed to victories in the first two Super Bowls. Brown recorded 13 NFL interceptions and six fumble recoveries in his career. After leaving the Packers, he briefly played for Washington following a trade by Vince Lombardi but retired soon after due to injury. Brown is remembered as the first athlete to both homer in an MLB game and play on a Super Bowl champion team, a feat later matched by Deion Sanders.
