Clearwater Man Arrested for Sexual Battery on Child Under 12

Bobby McAffee, a 62-year-old Clearwater man, was arrested and charged with sexual battery of a child under 12 after an investigation by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Crimes Against Children Unit. The victim reported that McAffee sexually assaulted him at the age of 8 in St. Petersburg. During an interview, McAffee admitted to having sexual contact with the victim and disclosed that he is HIV positive, a status the victim recently learned about as well. The investigation began in August 2024, and McAffee was taken to the Pinellas County Jail following his arrest. The case highlights ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to address historical child sexual abuse allegations. McAffee faces one count of sexual battery of a child less than 12 years old.
