He began experiencing symptoms 18 months ago, starting with right hand weakness, which led to a lengthy diagnostic process. During a recent swimming incident, his 13-year-old daughter had to rescue him, underscoring his concerns about being taken from his family, especially after losing his own father young. Dane's wife, Rebecca Gayheart, recently withdrew her divorce petition to support him during this time. Despite the incurable and progressive nature of ALS, Dane expressed gratitude for his family's support and the renewed closeness it has brought. He remains determined to raise awareness about ALS and not let the disease define his future.
