Braves Celebrate 30th Anniversary 1995 World Series with Record Alumni at Truist Park
The Atlanta Braves celebrated the 30th anniversary of their 1995 World Series championship with a major event at Truist Park, featuring a record number of alumni including Hall of Fame manager Bobby Cox. Despite suffering a stroke in 2019, the 84-year-old Cox made a rare public appearance, receiving a warm ovation as he led a pregame parade and participated in the ceremonies. The celebration included other Hall of Famers such as pitchers Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, John Smoltz, and players like Chipper Jones and Fred McGriff, who joined in throwing out first pitches and honoring the championship team. Cox, who managed the Braves to 14 consecutive division titles and five National League pennants, was visibly joyful and engaged, even though his mobility and communication are limited. Current manager Brian Snitker highlighted Cox's awareness and enjoyment of the event despite his health challenges, underscoring the deep respect and affection the Braves organization and fans have for him. The festivities also recognized former general manager John Schuerholz and coaching staff, marking a significant reunion of the franchise's legendary 1995 team.
