Addie Carver, a 17-year-old dance teacher from Mississippi, was crowned Miss Teen USA 2024 during a live event at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Carver, who aims to use her platform to advocate for mental health awareness, shared her personal struggles following her father's death from lung cancer, stating that she found hope through dance. This year's competition followed a tumultuous period for the Miss USA organization, with the previous Miss Teen USA, UmaSofia Srivastava, resigning over a clash of personal values and alleged mismanagement, a situation echoed by 2023's Miss USA, Noelia Voigt. The pageant featured 51 contestants, with Georgia’s Ava Colindres and Arizona’s Rachael McLaen as the first and second runners-up. The event broke from tradition by having Carver crowned by Hawaii’s Savannah Gankiewicz instead of the previous titleholder. Carver's commitment to empowering young girls aligns with her newly established organization, Dance to Empower.
