Journalist Charged with Stalking Osborne Family

Lydia Suffield, a 27-year-old freelance journalist, has been charged with stalking former chancellor George Osborne and his wife Thea Rogers over a period of more than a year. Allegations against her include sending multiple emails and Instagram messages, filing false reports to the NSPCC, and contacting the couple's friends and colleagues with claims of drug abuse. The court heard that her actions caused significant distress to Osborne and Rogers, leading them to enhance security for their wedding in July 2023. Suffield appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, where she pleaded not guilty to the charges. The case has been referred to Isleworth Crown Court, with a plea and trial preparation hearing scheduled for January 6. She remains on bail pending the next court appearance.
